OIC’s Secretary- General, Dr. Suthiphon Thaveechaiyagarn, presided over the seminar on “Potential Development and Efficiency Management” of the Regional Insurance Promotion group on December 1, 2018 at The River Re by Katathani, Chiang Rai Province where he gave a talk on "The insurance promotion through publication context of the Regional/Provincial Office under digital economy".   He addressed “insurance promotion is another important task of the Office as most people still lack knowledge on insurance, and consequently, the confidence to insurance”.   In the past, most people did not pay attention to apply the insurance system for risk management.  “We are in the digital age to provide information and publicity on insurance products through various media channels. It is an opportunity for the insurance industry to easily reach people or target groups, while people can access insurance information in depth in all dimensions as well” mentioned by OIC’s Secretary- General

Driving promoting by regional offices via publication context needs to improve the strategy to meet the digital technology age.  The publication is not just only information dissemination, but also publicity through the activities such as rice field insurance program, the OIC for the community, the commercial bank investigation, and knowledge promotional campaign of compulsory accidental policies in nine regions nationwide.  There are also new products launching like New Year's Micro Insurance with 7 Baht Insurance and 10 Baht Plus Insurance as well as new policy launching to solve the latest case of benefits compensation from lack of using the car, etc.  Such activities have been known to the public and resulted in better image and reputation of the organization.  The other is the insurance service and knowledge to the public as provided by the Office is considered publicity which helps create the image and reputation to the organization.

The promotion of insurance in the region has to be pro-actively in establishing a good relationship with the state, private and public networks, as well as related stakeholders.  The OIC’s provincial office should have a credible image by maintaining a neutral, non-biased basis between the insurer and the insured and, consequently, creating good understanding and attitude, led to good cooperation among the Office of headquarter and provincial office, the public, and the insurer.  The insurance promotion and publication require information readiness to communicate accurately and promptly. The integration in sharing information and technology applying is from the cooperation between the regional and provincial offices to be in the same direction and standard.  The development of regional personnel is the ability to work proactively in the digital age effectively.

The OIC secretary- General defined that in 2019, the Office will push cross-border insurance intensively in all dimension, which the OIC staffs have to be responsible for monitoring and directing this matter.  In addition, the digital Blue Card will be applied to facilitate the cross-country car insurance service for ASEAN countries.  Also, the forum on workshops led by the OIC for relevant both public and private has united and tackled the tough issues and obstacles, as well as practical guidelines formulating on the cross-border insurance.   In parallel, Thailand will host the 23rd ASEAN Finance Ministers' Conference in Chiang Rai, in 2019, which the Office shall submit the approved proposal to be one agenda by the Preparation Working Committee of this Ministerial Conference, on microinsurance product.  The plan is to develop the standard insurance products applied for ASEAN countries with the same coverage, conditions, and the premium rate as well as claim wherever in the ASEAN countries.  It also develops the sales offering channels accessible to the public from anywhere in the region.   The projection has been implemented in Thailand with the microinsurance accident insurance policy as the cheap, less-complicated and eased claimable insurance products.

"Therefore, in 2019, the Office of Insurance Commission both central and the provincial offices will play important roles in driving insurance in all dimensions.  In particular, the compulsory and voluntary insurance program in the provinces with permanent border crossings neighboring countries such as Chiang Rai, Nan, Loei, Nong Khai, Bungkan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, Trat, Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ranong, Satun, Songkhla, Yala and Narathiwat, can be applied for risk management of people, logistics, trade, tourism operators in the CLMV neighboring countries”, remarked the OIC secretary-general
